Kjetil Husebø: Sources
After the first collaboration with Kjetil, the new album Sources was the next commission. This time, I was using the picture of a grand piano as source material (referring to both the title and the content), and sliced it up in a number of fine, randomly shaped splines. I then took these image splines and started generating images the with the help of Processing, therefor re-assembling the piano into an abstract pattern.
When working with code, or generative / visual coding in particular, I am intrigued by the element of randomness. Not complete randomness by any means, rather: How can I alter the code, so that the visual outcome retains an element of unpredictability, or even better, surprises me. Meaningful randomness, so to speak.
