Exhibition Künstlerhaus Bregenz

100 Heads

On 4 October 2024, the Künstlerhaus Palais Thurn und Taxis (Bregenz, Austria) opened its doors for the latest exhibition. Alongside Kirsten Borchert (‘alles neu’), Eric Kressnig (‘von Ostern und Western’) and Regina Zachhalmel (‘No moral Tales.’), I am presenting 100 works from my ‘100 Heads’ series. In addition to sketchbooks and works on paper, I am showing recent works on canvas and installations for the first time.

“Topos” – 60 x 80 cm, acrylics on canvas

The 100 heads project started roughly two years ago, after a sudden burst of inspiration to create a book showcasing 100 heads I had drawn and painted over the past decade. The exhibition at the Künstlerhaus was confirmed in July 2023. That seemed like plenty of time to formulate an exhibtion, but as always time flew by. The challenge wasn't in producing new content but in curating the selection of 100 heads: How do you distill the essence of a body of work that has mostly remained unseen?

Preparing for this major show, my first in many years, has been both challenging and cathartic. I am very content with the outcome and profoundly grateful to everyone who made this possible and supported me throughout the years.

The exhibiton will be on display at Künstlerhaus Bregenz until November 17, 2024.
